I am a small contractor managing projects up to 500K. I find this software very useful and I believe that it presents me in a professional manner. As it is an App it is slightly limited in a few ways such as lack of editing facilities for the naming conventions as I live and work in France not the US. I would also like to be able to edit the reports a little but cant. These things are frustrating but no more than that. Being able to copy regularly used items from a "cost book" is great. I can price say dry-lining by the square metre in all kinds of different build ups straight off the shelf so to speak. Being able to see a mark up and profit margin in a report as a by product of the quote is also very handy. It has changed the way I look at quoting and for that I am very grateful. Horray for Construction Cost Estimator!

In regard to the software, I purchased a cost book but did not know where it was and assumed it had not been downloaded. Then after I got a credit for it from Apple it was there with added complications. Just prior to version 2.4 my costbook disappeared and where do I find it now? In that costbook it is not clear if the materials are included in some job pricings, like doing stairs and it is x$ for a tread. Is it intended that this is the supplied price?

I really enjoy using this app. Has cut down my work i put into quoting by a lot. Have made a bunch of entries in my cost book and it is great. Wish I could get a version for my IPad and sync between my Macbook and IPad. Well work the money.

Great software for what I need. I love how I am able to customize most all aspects of this estimator. I also enjoy how professional the end result is. I wish I could invoice off of this but perhaps in the future this will be a option.

I’m a general contractor and at the previous company I worked for, I used HCSS for estimating (entry price for HCSS is $6k!). I now have my own company and use Construction Cost Estimator; it’s a great bang for the buck. It is very easy to use, let’s you organize your estimates and present them in a professional manner. I am a painting contractor and use this app tom to put together estimates for comercialand residentialmpaintin. It could be geared for painters a little better but its not but it works for me. There is a bug that causes problems when filling in the customers name and address, it piles the typface on top of the succeding line Name , address, city ect… this doesent happen all the time but when it does i have to delete what I have started and start over. This program adds up all your materials and labor that you put in. There is one thing I would like to be able to do that i can’t ,,, Add the tax to the 8.5% materials sales tax from the store to a subtotal before the final total. Other than that this app will saves me time.

Love this app. Use it to do estimates for audio, video, lighting installations which its not even meant for. The only thing I would ask for is some way to export the data. XLS, CSV or something. Other then that its great. Huge time saver.

I am a residential remodeling contractor and I have been waiting for this app! I have been using this national costbook database for years and I am thrilled to be able to take it with me to estimates and job sites, and to be able to work on estimates whenever I get a minute, wherever I am. In buying the ipad app I found it does everything the old pc version didnt do, making my job easier and saving me time. I liked it so much I purchased the app for my iMac as well. I look forward to being able to share my work between the 2 devices, which Ive been assured is on the way.

i am an Architect and builder and I have to prduce estamates on a weekly basis. This application seems to have zeroed in on just what we need to estimate, keep current unit costs organized and updated, and produce great looking documents for our clients. There are no features bloating this app. It just does what I need and extremely well. Its like a contractor wrote the app. Great JOB!

I am a renovation carpenter, and i cover a lot of phases of construction and restoration. This app has made my life a lot simpler, saves me a lot of time, and produces profesional invoices that i am proud of. The ability to add a logo is great, you dont need to have seperate letterhead. Adding and removing line items is easy and fast. Really looking forward to the updates that will make an already great app even better! Money well spent!

With a few more features this software could be selling at 10x its current price. The developer is friendly and helpful.

Adding the ability for the program to auto and/or manually number the estimates will most definitely be a great improvement.

A must have for estimating!! I have recieved compliments from my repeat customers on the apearance of the estimates. Very easy to use, and allows you to complete estimates in a fast and professional matter.

this is for the desktop version: Pretty good, if bare bones software for building schematic estimates; and/or more detailed estimates if one invests a lot of build time. We are architects who build cost models in parallell with design as a way to get a pitcure of what are working on and in order to stay ahead of cost issues and value engineering. This tool works well for that as it is pre-formatted to be digestable and simple with easy controls. in the past we have worked directly in excel, which has worked but often takes more time and invention that we would like. - this makes it simpler and faster to arrive at prelim estimates. but is better than and more affordable than softwares such as means - but means is much more robust. Pros - Affordable , simple and easy GUI Cons - Lacks garnularity in controls, need to purchase cost books seperatly [and not cheap], lacks file export, in app storage of files and records means no portability custom templates would be nice, Needs / Omissions: lacks ability to duplicate cost items [ frustrating, inefficient], gui could use some development eg: seperate window for projects, import/export is needed for both projects and cost items. [excel/tab formatted - both from cost programs and from cad/bim files], access to 3rd party cost books would be great if/when available. bottom Line - Great value, considering the other options available, but still has a way to go to be integrated into workflow - I hope they continue to develop. [note: This software apears to be independanly developed and not an interface for an existing cost products data [means] and therefore shows a fair bit of promise.] warning: if you get the trial version and enter any truly us full data to see if the software will work for you - it seems to be impossible to move that file or its associated data when you get the paid version - grrrr. [we are still trying to figure out is this is possible]

APPLICATION IS GREAT. HOW DO I SYNC THE TABLET WITH THE LAP TOP.

I enjoy using this software a lot. I do a lot of construction work and having the guides available saves me a lot of typing and searching for industries excepted prices for my area. The easy input, printing and emailing is fantastic. Keep up the good work.

Great app. I can create professional looking estimates quicky, and its very easy to use. I like that I can look at a job and email an estimate to a customer a short time later (often while Im still sitting in my truck in front of the house). I create 4-5 estimates a day with it. Customers always comment on how good my estimates look in comparison to other contractors estimates. The developer is very responsive and seems to be concerned about the quality and performance of his product. Bugs are fixed immediately. I would like the ability to automatically number estimates, though. I highly recommend it.
